Volunteer with Us
As a Volunteer Trip Mentor you will support the Group Leader in leading 12 children through the activities. You will be working with other volunteers and staff, helping the children to achieve their best, develop skills and enjoy themselves.
The Group Leader and staff including volunteers meet the children at the pick-up point (usually school gates) and accompany them by minibus to the activity venues. Usually there are two activities per day. At the end of the day you will return with the children to their schools.
Encourage participation from all of the children and support them to get the most out of the programme.
Aid them in reflecting on and planning their skills development using their Skills Passports, relating to the life and learning skills: confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, curiosity, goal setting and problem-solving.
Record your observations of the children demonstrating the skills on an observation sheet.
Chat with and get to know the children, sharing your life experiences and acting as a positive role model.
Support the Group Leader’s expectation and requirement regarding children’s behaviours, positively managing any challenging behaviours and conflicts arising within the group.
Be aware of and work within Wider World policies and procedures including (but not limited to) behaviour, safeguarding and code of conduct.
