Ride & Run
Ride & Run Ambassadors
Would you like to represent, promote and raise the profile of Wider World when competing, and wear our gear whilst doing it?
We’re looking for up to 4 Ride & Run Ambassadors: 2 runners and 2 riders, or runner-riders / triathletes, to work with us throughout the year and help us raise money for our programmes and promote the work we do.
As a Bristol-based charity, we’re looking for R&R Ambassadors to compete in events local to Bristol. This could include The Bristol Half in September, The Bath Half in March and other events throughout the year such as park runs, fun runs, triathlons, Tough Mudder and full or half Ironman races.
The Role of an Ambassador
Predominantly you’d be raising funds via sponsorship, however, we love to hear and work on creative ideas for alternative means of fundraising. Where possible we’ll obtain the charity place for you, although you may need to play a part in this. We’d want you to raise at least as much as the standard entry cost to a race.
An Ambassador may choose to run their own activity or event to help us raise money, such as leading a community / family bike ride or fun run, offering sports coaching sessions or bike maintenance sessions for instance.
We may call on you to ‘fly our flag’ at an event or speak on our behalf to inspire school staff, children and volunteers to get involved with us. Or perhaps you may want to do something that directly inspires the children taking part in one of our programmes. We’re open to ideas.
Why Do We Do It?
All of our programmes have our seven life and learning skills weaved through them: resilience, confidence, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, goal-setting and curiosity. We feel that our fundraising events should also embody these skills, allowing others to experience them, helping to bring home how and why they are so important.
Consider the personal attributes you need as an athlete to train, to improve and to be successful. We’re guessing there’s a fair amount of goal-setting, resilience and self-confidence for starters.
As an athlete, we’re sure you appreciate the importance of having these skills and be aware of how they transfer over into day-to-day life and can, therefore, see why our programmes are so beneficial.
Becoming an Ambassador
If you’d like to talk to us about becoming a Ride Ambassador, Run Ambassador or both, get in touch using our RARA enquiry form or give us a call. We would want to interview you and take references as it’s important that as a representative of our charity, you share the values and outlook as us. If you and we are happy to proceed, we’ll order your jersey and start planning your events.
