DIY Fundraiser

DIY Fundraiser

“Start with an Idea…”

There are lots of ways to raise money, from asking for challenge sponsorship to running an event and donating the proceeds. If you’d like to run your own event, set yourself a challenge or take part in an organised event and choose us as your charity, we’d love to support you with this and would be very grateful to you.

Life & Learning Skills

All of our programmes have our seven life and learning skills weaved through them: resilience, confidence, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, goal-setting and curiosity. We feel that our fundraising events should also embody these skills, allowing others to experience them, helping to bring home how and why they are so important. Whether you’re performing, exercising your confidence skills, setting yourself a sponsored challenge, calling on your goal-setting and resilience skills or setting up an event, requiring teamwork and leadership, you’ll inevitably be embodying the skills we talk about all the time.

Get Sponsored

Maybe you’re planning to run, cycle, walk or do something a bit off-the-wall. If it’s challenging enough people will surely sponsor you to do it. We don’t have a JG or GFM page just yet, but you can collect the sponsors yourself, collect pledges or ask your sponsors to donate directly via our Donate button or Donate page on our website, either before or after your event.

Run an Event

Why not run an event such as a quiz or bingo event, or basically anything where people buy tickets to attend. Perhaps a salsa evening, musical performance, race night, BYO wine-tasting, safari supper – the list goes on. We believe that fundraising events should be fun and enjoyable and not only benefit the children on our programmes but also those attending your event.

Perform

Do you have a skill that people would pay to watch you perform? Maybe you play an instrument or can perform magic tricks or an awe-inspiring physical oddity. Heading into the city centre with a charity donation pot, armed with your skills and a big smile, can yield big donations and put a smile on other people’s faces too!

Provide a Service

We all rely on services, often paying private companies and individuals to wash our cars, clean our windows, deliver our shopping, running errands and carrying out many other useful, helpful tasks. Why not offer your time and provide a service. Let people know you’re doing it for charity and how they can donate, either directly on our website using the Donate button or via you.

Run an Auction

Have you ever thought about auctioning your time, expertise or something valuable for charity? What if you got a bunch of friends together who were also happy to do the same. You could hold an auction event, invite lots of people, and in the name of charity, sell your goods and services to the highest bidder. Examples from an event we ran a while back included IT support, a meal for 2, hosting a dinner party, home improvement DIY and housework chores.

Make & Sell

Who doesn’t love cake?! If you can make it or bake it and you think people would buy it, why not give your time and expertise by making things and selling them. It doesn’t just have to be cake of course; you could make could be greetings cards, craft creations, art or practical gadgets. Recruit some friends, hold an event or but together an online store and make everyone’s day just a little bit better.

Get In Touch

If you’ve got an idea and you want to talk to us about how you can turn it into reality, or maybe you’ve got it ready to go, fill in our online DIY Fundraiser form and we’ll get back to you to give you the support you need. You know, maybe you’re success may lead to some personal business development and lead to great things. Feel free to test your ideas out with us.
